Milk + Mallet are interested in the feminine, the ephemeral, the powerful and the gut-punch of all theatre can be.
Abbey Gillett + Elsa Strachan met whilst working on Stray Dogs at Theatre503, a bold, ambitious, big-swing of a show for a prominent but small Fringe theatre space.
Forged by this experience, they continued to collaborate creatively from the ground up, focusing on new writing and working largely with other emerging talent.
Influenced by their upbringings in rural areas (Abbey in the Misbourne Valley & Elsa in the Scottish Highlands) they create theatrical worlds with a heightened sense of place, exploring the influence this has on the character’s perspectives and the audience’s imaginations.
Their shows use music to crack open very real and very human truth within a very specific context.
Milk + Mallet make playful, music-led theatre that finds absurd, theatrical ways of telling naturalistic stories.
